First day of school blues

Monday, January 7, 2008

Today was the first day of my last semester of school- ever! It's a great feeling to be almost done, but it was a rough day. Books that I need are sold out, my class schedule is still not finalized, I may not be able to take a class I wanted, my dance teacher (this is supposed to be my stress relief class) is super intense, etc. I'm hoping that my dance instructor just likes to scare people off the first day. You know the 'start out tough and then soften up' bit. I hope. He's a short, latin-looking man that can certainly shake his hips like there's no tomorrow. I'm sure dance is his life, but this is only an intermediate level class, for crying out loud! Do I really need to memorize and recite the first 5 positions in ballet before starting a rumba?

My bad mood was probably exacerbated because it's now almost 6pm and all I've had to eat today was a bagel and a bottle of frozen milk. I was really irritated to find that the milk I had purchased from the bookstore refrigerator was frozen into a solid mass. I spent an entire class period trying to warm it up. 2 hours and a couple of frozen hands later, I was able to get some of the milk slushy into my mouth. :(

I hope tomorrow is better.

I had a nice big slice of chocolate cake in my fridge Monday night-- sorry I didn't bring it over. But if you're still looking for an alternative to your dance class, my brother says there are five or six girls in his jujitsu class. Just FYI...

Hey Linda,
I think it's great news that you are almost done with your schooling and poised for a more fulfilling career. Just think, this time next year, you won't be needing to go back to school again, but rather you will be living comfortable somewhere on your MBA salary.
good luck this year.
