Air conditioning, I need air conditioning! and internet, please

I had some withdrawals today. I went from busy MBA life to small town India where it takes at least 2 hours in a hot car on bumpy roads to reach any destination. Once there, it takes even more time to get something accomplished as no one is in a hurry for anything except driving. The traffic is crazy. Three lanes certainly doesn’t mean 3 lanes of traffic. If you can fit 4 cars, 1 bus, 5 scooters, and 10 people, then go for it. Fortunately, I’ve been in a larger vehicle most of the time, which means we have the right of way. I’ve been seriously afraid, though, for the life of many scooter riders, pedestrians, cows, and dogs. Cars come literally inches away. That’s inches between life and a painful, messy death. But, it doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

As for cows- since they’re considered sacred animals in India, people usually do not slaughter them or eat beef. Instead, they’re like dogs. They roam freely through streets and neighborhoods, eating vegetation or garbage. They seem to prefer the garbage piles. Maybe it’s more savory.
